'Earth has not anything to show more fair: Dull would he be of soul who could pass by A sight so touching in its majesty' Wasn't this painted about the same time as Wordsworth's poem on Westminster Bridge? I've wondered how, freed of the turbulent noise of vaporetti, adorned with oar and sail La Serenissima might have exceeded even that lovely vision.
